Secret Admirers… And Other Things

Not too much has been going on lately on the ol’ web. Yesterday, I decided to take a day off mainly because the weather was pretty rainy for the walk up to HCCC and I had originally planned to take the day off to work on the book, but I was also pretty exhausted and decided to go to bed instead.

The only major event to happen over the weekend was of course the new “Harry Potter” book and it was probably a big event at Wally World, but I wasn’t there the night they unveiled it. I have not yet bought a copy of the book mainy because I have it on reserve at the Basloe Library which is where I am going to be tomorrow. From what I have heard, it is supposed to be pretty good and everything. I have only read two of the Potter books, the two being the “Goblet of Fire” and the last book “The Half-Blood Prince.” I have also seen the first four movies and I thought that they were pretty good. I am probably going to wait until it comes out on DVD before I go to see the fifth one, which is now in theaters.

Also in my search for Miss Right on the several personals sites where I have profiles on, it is still a pretty frustrating process. It turns out that I have a lot of secret admirers, all of them being on the Internet. It’s too bad that I don’t have any offline. If I did, I probably would have known about it by now. I’m basically the type in which nothing gets by me. However, those that do message me on the personal sites turn out to be scammers, another thing to watch out for. The good news is I know not to fall for them. All I have to do is just not reply.

Oh, well. What can you do? There is just so little time and so little I have to write about.

Hot Times in the Ol’ Town

So far the first four days of my vacation have been going pretty good. I spent most of the time cleaning and working on my book both at home and at the Historical Society. I have also been going up to the college as well, doing my Myspace thing as well as checking my Cupid.com account to see if anyone is interested in me. So far, no luck.

Last weekend was the Boilermaker marathon that they have every year in Utica. Someone had thought that I ran the Boilermaker this year and I told them that I wouldn’t be caught dead doing that. I’m in shape, but not in shape enough to run that. Running and me just don’t mix.

The thing is that it has been really hot the last few days. It was like being roasted like a pig on a spit. I couldn’t really do too much walking around. And of course, we also got some pretty good thunderstorms during the last couple of days. It was really hot in the library when I was trying to use Myspace. Yesterday morning while I was trying to fix my profile on Myspace, I noticed that the system went down, partly due to construction that was going on downstairs. I was able to spend some more time trying to fix my profile so that people could access it in case anyone wanted to send me a friend request. So far, I have had no luck.

Over the weekend, I got a new toy. I bought an old video camera from a guy who works at the Historical Society. He is planning to move back to South America next month and he is having a moving sale. It is from the good ol’ days when VCRs were king. There’s just one little problem with it: It needs a new microphone. The images come up pretty good, it’s just that there is no sound when I play it back on a VCR. As soon as I get the problem solved, it’s a sure bet that you will see me on YouTube pretty soon.

I figured that I could cut back on my emails on Yahoo by going later for today and tomorrow since I am on vacation from Wally World. Last Friday morning when I went to the library, I was frustrated when I couldn’t access Yahoo, which meant when I went to the college yesterday morning, I was backlogged with emails on Yahoo so I had to go through that. I had a whole slew of emails and a lot of them were junk emails anyway.

So anyway, that’s what’s been happening from the ol’ front.

I Need A Vacation

Well, the 4th of July has come and gone. I didn’t really do anything much. I was originally planning to work on my book yesterday, but I was pretty tired when I got home from work so I spent the whole day in bed. Plus it was raining out when I got up and when I left for work. Good thing I had that raincoat that I got at Herkimer Garbage Day.

Tonight is my last night of work before I go on vacation from Wally World for nine whole days. Of course I still have to go in and get my check and I may have to get some food during that weekend, but other than that, I don’t really intend to go there during the whole week that I am off. I am probably not really going to do too much that day, except for going to HCCC for my Internetting, and then to the Historical Society to do some much-needed work on my book. I am pretty close to the point where I can actually send something in to a publisher through the ‘Net. I just have a couple more things that I need to do first.

The main reason that I decided on July 8-12 to take my vacation was because of the fact that July 11 is the day that Grace Brown died. I guess in a way, I still feel guilty for not being there for her when it counted because of a remodelling thing that was going on at Wally World that summer. Because of that, I missed a memorial for her up at Big Moose Lake on that date because it was the 100th anniversary of her death. Even though I still can’t go up there this year, mainly because of money reasons, I am still going to take that week off. And by the way, the book I am writing is about her.

I guess I should now backtrack and let you know what had been going on pre-4th. Last weekend, my sister and her boyfriend went out on a rock-collecting trip to Connecticut so I had to take care of the dogs again. They came back late Sunday night, but by then I was already at work. Then on Monday night, the big day arrived. I saw “Transformers.” It was really awesome. I got there about eighty minutes before the movie began so I could beat the crowds there and that turned out to be excellent planning on my part. I am now really glad that I knew about this weeks in advance so I could take a personal day off from work to go see it.

Of course on the 3rd, they had the fireworks display. Of course I couldn’t see it because that was when I had to go back to work. Then when I came back, they thought that I had actually started my vacation when I only took a personal day. No way. The vacation actually starts the minute I get out of work tomorrow morning. I can’t wait.
